THE DRAGON GUARD

Characters & Dragons

Warriors, survivors, prophets, and dragons with no interest in behaving like somebody else’s weapon.

The Guard

Lucas

A former United States Marine who dies of old age and wakes young, armed with hard-earned instincts and very little patience for prophecy. Lucas is not interested in being worshiped. He is interested in keeping people alive.

Gloria

Lucas’s first ally in the new world. Smart, dangerous, and fully capable of reminding him when his plan is stupid—which happens often enough to qualify as a full-time job.

Lord Tellan

A Paladin of Hadat who understands that history is usually written by survivors—and that survivors can lie. His faith makes him dangerous. His willingness to question it makes him useful.

Gwendylon

A formidable elven mage whose knowledge of healing, runes, and counterspells becomes essential as old magic returns to the world. Gwen is powerful, proud, and not easily impressed.

Senja

A scarred veteran of Osran’s Own. Senja has survived enough battles to distrust easy promises, but she still steps forward when the line begins to break.

Sohvi

A wounded warrior carrying visions nobody wanted to believe. She sees the war coming before most of the world remembers there ever was one.

The Dragons

Shushana

A young white dragon with fur instead of scales, blue eyes, sharp opinions, and a will the drogue could not break. She is Lucas’s companion, equal, and occasional critic.

Claws-of-Brown-Fire

An older dragon whose name is earned rather than decorative. Powerful, suspicious, and shaped by a world that has forgotten what dragons and elves once accomplished together.

Nashitha

The black dragon of legend. Whether Nashitha is dead, captive, corrupted, or waiting is one of the questions that can decide the fate of the world.

Dragons are intelligent people, not mounts, pets, or oversized lizards. The bond between dragon and guard is an alliance.
